We both work (remotely) about 25 hours a week, giving us lots of time to work on the van around job commitments.Īfter thirty-five hours of travel from Brisbane to the small town of Dublin, GA, two hours outside of Atlanta we were straight into our Chevy Express Van Build.Īs total novice builders took our cues from online blogs and youtube tutorials primarily Far Out Ride and Gnomad Home. We had 36 days before we need to leave to make our friends’ wedding, across the country in Colorado. With the van purchased before we arrived and some bits and pieces necessary to begin the build ordered off Amazon, we were ready to begin our DIY van conversion as soon as we touched down. Spacious enough to allow us to cook inside. Large enough to function as a workspace for two. Comfortable to drive, comfortable to sleep, comfortable in cities and remote destinations alike. We wanted to design a van around these specific needs. Allowing us both to work 20 – 25 hours a week online and to stay longer in the places we visit. We planned to travel more slowly through Mexico than we did through Sou th America. Our first van trip had given us a great idea of what we wanted and what we did not want in our new DIY van conversion.
